Having a Good Day aims to transform day services for adults and older people living in Buckinghamshire. The way these services are provided goes back to the 1980s and 90s in large institutional buildings that separate people from their communities. Many of these buildings are no longer fit for purpose.
Having a Good Day wants to address these problems by introducing a new day opportunities service that will open up access to community facilities for people with disabilities and older people. Buckinghamshire County Council is seeking the views of residents and those who use day services on their proposals and options for change. Carers Bucks and its sister charity Carers Milton Keynes are looking for new Trustee Board members whose talents and enthusiasm will compliment those of our current eight Trustees. The Trustee Board is responsible for establishing strategy and supporting the staff in supporting unpaid family carers.
Among the skills and experience we are looking for are finance, HR, marketing, youth work, fundraising and social care. If you are, have been or know someone who is a family carer, so much the better.
Carers Bucks and Carers Milton Keynes are legally separate bodies but the Trustees are common to both organisations, as is the Chief Executive.
Contact Stephen Archibald Chief Executive for details.
Carers Bucks annual general meeting will take place on the 25th October at the Clare Foundation in Saunderton. Our guest speaker will be Imelda Redmond, the Chief Executive of Carers UK . More details to follow.
