Your Caring Role

Anyone can become a carer. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be of any age. It is estimated that there are around 44,000 family carers in Buckinghamshire and around 6 million nationally. 1 in 5 of us will become a carer at some point in our lives and every day another six thousand people take on a caring role. Many family carers do not recognise themselves as a carer; they are just looking after their son, daughter, father or wife and doing what anyone else would do in the same situation.

Parent Carer
Young Carer
Working Carer

You may look after someone with: ·

mental illness
dementia
learning disabilities
a serious or life-limiting condition

Or you may be new to caring or adjusting to life as your caring role has ended.
