Family Support Project

Our Family Support Project provides support to young Carers, and their families, struggling with the effects of substance dependency and /or acute mental illness.

In partnership with appropriate agencies, Carers Bucks can provide tailored, time limited support to families where there are children between 6 and 18 years old caring for a family member, or significant adult, with substance dependency and/or acute mental illness.

Support can include:

assistance to enable the family member to access treatment
provision of limited childcare to facilitate this.
one to one support for the young carer
advocacy
tailored group sessions for the young carers
peer support groups
linking families into community and mainstream young Carers’ services
advice, information and signposting to relevant agencies.

The Family Support Project is delivered in partnership with OBMH, Bucks Drug and Alcohol Action Team and Bucks CC Children’s Services.

Referral Process

Referrals to the Project can be made by the Drug and Alcohol Action Team, Children's Services, Community Mental Health team or any other professional working with the family.
